Atlanta Technical Colleges CAD Operator Technical Certificate is awarded to students completing the specialized curriculum taken in sequence as long as the prerequisites or co-requisites are met. The CAD certificate program helps to enhance prior knowledge and skills in grooming students to be productive entry level computer-aided drafters/designers in the industry. This certificate will also aid in the advancement of skills for persons who are presently employed as drafters in a relatively short academic period by including only CAD/BIM software and general supporting core courses. Course work completed in the CAD Operator program is fully applicable to the Drafting Technology Diploma. This is a non-certification program.

- Completion of high school or GED and submission of official transcript required to apply
- Achievement of minimum program admission scores in Reading, English, and Math
- Transfer of previous post secondary credits will be determined by the registrar
Student Performance/Graduation Requirements: Students must maintain a 2.0 grade point average and complete all required courses to graduate.
This student success course is designed to transition, connect, and acclimate new students to Atlanta Technical College. The course creates an awareness of various campus resources and holistic skill sets necessary to achieve educational and career success. Through the nurturing of academic, personal, social, occupational, and technological talents, students develop the academic and professional skills necessary to be successful in college and the global community.
Multiview/Basic Dimensioning provides multiview and pictorial sketching, orthographic drawing and fundamental dimensioning methods necessary to develop 2D and 3D views that completely describe machine parts for manufacture using intermediate CAD software techniques.
Advanced Dimensioning/Sectional Views continues dimensioning skill development and introduces tools for precision measurement and sectional views.
Introduces techniques necessary for auxiliary view drawings, surface development, and developing sheet metal parts. Topics include: primary auxiliary views, secondary auxiliary views, surface development, and developing sheet metal parts.
Introduces architectural fundamental principles and practices associated with architectural styles and drawing. Fundamentals residential and commercial practices will be covered. Topics include: specifications and materials; architectural styles, construction drawing practices and procedures, dimensioning and scales.
In the Architectural 3D Modeling course, the student becomes acquainted with concepts of the software related to Parametric modeling for Architectural drafting. The student will develop the skills necessary to create 3D models and presentation/constructions drawings.
