Jeremiah Manning, a dual-enrollment student at Atlanta Technical College and Millers Military Academy, took first place in the Georgia Independent Christian Athletic Association (GICAA) Invitational Varsity Wrestling State Championship match this month. Manning, a junior with a 4.00 GPA, is currently enrolled in Atlanta Tech’s Move On When Ready dual-enrollment program and is taking college-level courses.
“The dual enrollment program has given me a taste of what I should expect in college,” Manning said. “I am taking College Algebra and Composition and Rhetoric.”
Manning participated in Riverside Military Academy’s wrestling camp during the summer. There he competed with high school wrestlers from all over the Southeast, and as far away as Missouri. “When I finish college I plan to be a professional wrestler,” he said. “I’m also thinking about owning my own business.”
GIACC’s focus is to create an atmosphere where high school students can compete at a high level and yet still be encouraged to grow in their faith. With his first-place win in the GICAA invitational, he is one step closer to his number-one goal. “The win meant that my hard work paid off in a big way, and I have the potential to reach the next level of being an extraordinary wrestler,” he said.
