Atlanta Technical College is the largest single-site campus of the 25 colleges in the Technical College System of Georgia. They are a dynamic campus, committed to providing leading-edge technology and rigorous academics based in ethics and core values, which complement our global awareness activities and community service. This holistic preparation enables students to be competitive in the global workforce. Chairman Eaves has been a long-time proponent of partnering education with economic development, his work having recently been featured in Global Atlanta. Chairman Eaves was a Fulbright scholar and regional head of the Peace Corps and has served as chair of the Atlanta Sister Cities Commission. He also created the Global Youth program which allows high school students to travel to other counties such as China, Turkey and Brazil for an educational and cultural exchange.

The college has enjoyed past recognition from Washington Monthly as one of the top fifty community colleges in the nation, and is the proud recipients of the Perdue Award for 2012, naming Atlanta Technical College as the top technical college in the State of Georgia. They are the only technical college in Georgia with an international exchange program with a college in Germany, and are leading the initiative with King Faisal University to develop a community college campus in Saudi Arabia. These distinctions catapult Atlanta Technical College into national and global recognition as a vibrant learning community, where students come first.

“Chairman Eaves’ accomplishments in education, servant leadership, and community development around the world will be especially motivational to our students and the college community”, stated Atlanta Technical College President Alvetta Peterman Thomas.

“I am honored to serve as Atlanta Technical College’s Commencement Speaker”, confirmed Chairman Eaves. “The college is an excellent example of how education can expand opportunities for students from beyond the classroom onto the world stage.”
