GAP, Inc. Awards 2012 Scholarships to Nine Atlanta Technical College Students

GAP Inc. recently awarded GAP for Community College scholarships to nine students from Atlanta Technical College.  GAP store manager Sherrica Hill announced the winners of during an on campus ceremony on May 1.  Ranging from $650 to $800, the funds will be used to support the students in their educational pursuits. 

The GAP for Community Colleges Scholarship competition is available to students enrolled in technical and community college who participate in and complete the GAP for Community Colleges (GCC) training program.  Initiated in 2011, GCC provides students with the skills and knowledge to be successful and competitive in the workforce.  Participants in the program have access to the same comprehensive training curriculum given to Gap store managers. The coursework covers job search preparation materials such as interview skills and resume writing, practical workplace skills such as managing people and setting priorities and how to effectively communicate in the workplace. Students also receive on-the-job experience with an opportunity to job shadow a Gap manager in a store.
