Atlanta Tech students take first place in
American Health Information Management Association contest
The American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) has notified Atlanta Technical College (ATC) that the Health Information Management Student Association (HIMSA) at the college has won the AHIMA Student Bulletin Board Contest for the second consecutive year.
Health information students across the country were encouraged to create bulletin boards promoting the field of health information management, in honor of AHIMA’s 86th Anniversary. Teams were asked to use AHIMA fliers, buttons, brochures, calendars and collateral, along with resources from their local communities to create informative displays. The Atlanta Technical College team chose to highlight the service learning, information governance, innovation, informatics, and leadership aspects of AHIMA.
As a reward for placing first, HIMSA, was given the option of receiving a $500 prize or five complementary student registrations to the AHIMA convention that will be held in San Diego, California, September 27-October 2.
The HIMSA was established on the campus of Atlanta Technical College in January 2013 by the faculty and students of the health information technology program.
