Atlanta Technical College to host National Voter Registration event
On Tuesday, September 25, thousands of voters will celebrate the inauguration of a new holiday — National Voter Registration Day — in a massive effort to register voters in all 50 states before Election Day. Atlanta Technical College will join the nationwide festivities hosting “A Voter Registration and Education Blitz” from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. in the Academic Building on the campus located at 1560 Metropolitan Parkway, SW. The East Point/College Park Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., Rainbow PUSH and Rolling Out Magazine will join school volunteers on campus for the event.
Students, staff and members of the community will have the opportunity to register to vote, check voter status and obtain information on what is needed to properly cast a vote in Georgia. Information will also be available for those who have recently relocated or may be voting for the first time.
The theme for National Voter Registration Day is simple: Register in September, make it count in November. The overarching goal of the project is to drive more people to the polls this election.
National Voter Registration Day’s impact will be driven by more than 700 partner organizations from across the country that will help with the effort. Partners include retailers, the YWCA and the League of Women Voters.
