Dean of Health and Public Safety Technologies Named One of the Top 25 Women in Atlanta
Dr. Queenston Thorpe, dean of allied health and public safety technologies at Atlanta Technical College was named one of the Top 25 Women in Atlanta by Rolling Out Magazine and the Steed Media Society. Thorpe was presented with the award during the Seventh Annual Top 25 Women of Atlanta Awards celebration held at the Twelve Hotel on October 26.
The event recognizes women who have broken barriers in their respective fields and left an indelible mark on the Atlanta landscape. The impressive group of women honored this year include Tara Murphy, Owner/President, 360 Media, Inc.; Alisha Thomas Morgan, House of Representatives, Georgia; Ebony Steele, co-host of the “Rickey Smiley Morning Show; Egypt Sherrod, host, “On Air With Egypt”, V103; Erica Qualls, general manager, Atlanta Marriott Marquis-Marriott International; Joyce Sheperd, councilmember, Atlanta City Council; Karyn Greer, anchor, 11Alive; Kimberly Paige, VP, African American Marketing, Coca-Cola Company; Tisha Tallman, president & CEO, Georgia Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.
Thorpe was recognized for her outstanding contributions in preparing Georgians for gainful employment in high demand health and science professions. Under her leadership, Atlanta Technical College has garnered the reputation as one of the region’s leaders in health-focused education, expanding program offerings to include registered nursing, dental hygiene, radiologic technology, physical therapist assisting, surgical technology, and bioscience.
