Federal PELL Grant Program (PELL)
Federally funded
Recipients must demonstrate financial need as defined by the U. S. Department of Education.
High School Diploma/GED documentation must be on file in the Admissions Office.
Student must be Provisionally or Regularly accepted for admission (Developmental Admit Type does not qualify for Pell)
Not have attained a baccalaureate or first professional degree.
Award amounts vary based on individual need as determined by federal methodology.
Quarterly awards are based on federal credit hours for students enrolled in diploma.

Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG)
Federally funded
Awarded to the neediest PELL Grant recipients
Funding is limited to the yearly Institutional allotment
Funds are not available for all students who meet the eligibility criteria
Priority is given to students who meet the priority deadline date for applications.

Federal Work Study (FWS) Program
Federally funded
Provides part-time employment on campus
Encourages participation in Community Service activities and the America Reads initiative
Recipients must maintain a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.0 or greater
Offers exposure to real work experiences, development of positive work ethics and time management skills

Helping Outstanding Pupils Educationally (HOPE) Scholarship Program
Recipients must be Georgia residents for at least 12 consecutive months prior to enrollment/award
HOPE Grant component is available to students enrolled in a certificate or diploma program of study
Recipients are eligible for a maximum of 95 quarter hours of HOPE Grant payment ,
HOPE Scholarship component is awarded to HOPE Scholars enrolled in an Associate degree (AAT) program
HOPE Scholars must maintain a 3.0 or greater cumulative GPA at the required checkpoints
Award amount is equivalent to the cost of tuition and fees plus a HOPE book allowance
Quarterly book allowance is $50.00 five or less credit hours and $100.00 for six or more credit hours

Application Process

The Free Application For Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) may be used for federal and state assistance

Atlanta Tech’s school code, 008543, must be reported on the FAFSA

Lifetime HOPE Scholarship Application can only be used for state assistance only (Electronic Application)

FAFSA must be completed each academic year

If requested, applicants must also be prepared to submit copies of certain financial documents (tax returns, verification of TANF, social security, child support, etc.)

Deadline Dates

Priority deadline date is March 1
preceding the chosen academic year
If the priority deadline date is missed, the quarterly deadline dates are:

Summer Quarter - June 1

Fall Quarter - September 1

 

Winter Quarter - December 1

 

Spring Quarter - March 1

Free Application For Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
Students may complete a paper copy of the FAFSA and mail it to the federal processor OR students may go online and complete the application at http://www.fafsa.ed.gov.


Verification
At least 30% of all applicants are selected for a review process called verification. If your federal application is selected for review, you must complete a verification worksheet and submit proof of your income (federal tax forms, W-2, social security statements, proof of child support received, etc.) for the base year.
