Robbie Howard, ATC pharmacy technology program director, returned recently from the Ghana Study Abroad Program. “The program was utilized as part of my Doctorate of Public Health degree requirements,” said Howard. Howard is in the Jiann-Ping Hsu College of Public Health at Georgia Southern University.
While in Ghana, Howard worked in a teaching hospital in Kumasi and participated in four research projects:
-Chronic disease management on the part of healthcare providers and the community;
-Toxicology and health impacts of scrap tires burning for singeing meat;
-Contraceptive use and birth control attitudes among antenatal women; and
-Healthcare providers and evaluation of the anti-retroviral therapy adherence among different TB/HIV
